Johannesburg - South African mobile phone operator MTN said it had received acceptances from shareholders representing 78.1% of Dubai-based Investcom for its agreed $5.53bn offer.
MTN said in a statement on Friday it had received acceptances in respect of 1.12 billion Investcom shares - around 78.1% of the issued share capital.
It said the Investcom offer remained open for acceptances and the first closing date will be June 28.
