Cape Town - The game changer for the renewable energy story in South Africa was when SolarReserve was awarded its first project in the Northern Cape, according to Terence Govender, SolarReserve's vice president of development.

Govender said good operational data from its operations in the Northern Cape over the past 18 to 24 months confirms that renewable energy is good for SA as a whole.
"There is no longer load shedding, because these power stations are now generating power. We are able to not only generate power using the sun, but to store it and generate the power when we really need it during peak periods in SA," said Govender.
"It is a billion dollar project and a good news story for SA. We are able to create jobs and bring investments into SA."
He also praised the role played by SolarReserve's various consortium partners, financiers and equity investors.
