Global partnerships, new tech part of Nouwens Carpets strategy

Durban - South African carpet manufacturer, Nouwens Carpets, is using new technology and a series of strategic partnerships in line with the company’s long term vision of being a world-class company.
 
Late last year, the company imported a state-of-the-art tile cutting plant, rated as one of the top three worldwide, for their local Harrismith factory. The plant was in operation as early as January with pleasing results.

The new tile cutting plant has increased operational efficiency by reducing waste during the production process while also improving cutting capabilities by more than ten times in comparison to the previous equipment.

“The new tile cutting plant has helped us streamline our business and ultimately reduce overheads, enabling us to offer our clients competitive prices while still maintaining a high-quality product,” said factory manager Karl–Heinz Lutze.
 
Nouwens has invested heavily in its technical abilities and by keeping their eye on the ball, have now entered two partnerships which will open new markets. Earlier this year, the company partnered with outdoor sports turf and landscape surface manufacturers, Tarkett, to manufacture their sports and landscape product.

As result of this partnership, Nouwens now manufactures and sells landscape turf locally under license from FieldTurf. The new alliance combines 85 years’ experience in carpet production and synthetic sports surfacing.
 
The company also partnered with Belgian company, Modulyss, to become the sole distributors of their unique carpet tiles. Both these agreements are a direct result of the company’s technological investment and know-how.

These strategic moves will give Nouwens Carpets significant growth capabilities and the ability to expand into new markets.
