Cape Town - Security gate manufacturer, Xpanda Group, caused a row over a radio advert of a black who ended up in prison for trying to steal his “Madam’s chicken”.
The 25 second advert features a man with an African accent who ended up in prison after trying to steal the chicken because he was hungry.
The company, according to eNCA, responded in a statement to the outcry who said that a total of four ads were recorded.
It said its latest campaign also featured jailed white, Indian and coloured men.
Xpanda added that people would feel less aggrieved once the rest of the commercials are broadcast.
It said the other ads will be released soon.
Two complaints have already been lodged with the Advertising Standards Authority who is expected to wrap up its investigation in a month, eNCA reported.

Voice artists 1: “What you inside for, boet?”
Voice artists 2: “Eish, I was so hungry. So I walk up to the kitchen by the boss’s house and grab a roast chicken. The madam, she slammed the Xpanda door in my face. No way out. That is how I ended up in jail, with no chicken. Eish.”
