Johannesburg - Transnet has named former Public Investment Corporation chief
Brian Molefe as its new CEO.
He takes over the reins of the transport parastatal after a two-year vacuum. Former CEO
Maria Ramos left the post to join Absa Bank in 2009.
Transnet spokesperson Mboniso Sigonyela confirmed the appointment on Wednesday.
After Ramos' departure, chief operating officer
Chris Wells acted in the post. He announced his departure in November 2010 and new Transnet chairperson Mafika Mkhwanazi took over the CEO post in an acting capacity.
The parastatal was engulfed in a public spat with former CEO of Transnet Freight Rail,

Gama was fired in 2010.
