Johannesburg - The first dispute meeting between Solidarity
and Eskom will be held at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and
Arbitration (CCMA) on Wednesday, the trade union said.
Spokesperson Moira-Marie Kloppers said the two parties would
meet in a bid to settle the drawn out wage dispute at Eskom.
"Solidarity declared a wage dispute with Eskom last
week, after the company's one-sided implementation of a two-year wage agreement
for a 7% increase led to a breach of confidence between the company and its
employees," she said.
The trade union said it was hoped that Eskom would make a
formal wage offer of an 8% increase and put forward a plan for increasing the
housing allowance over the next three years.
