Johannesburg - Paper maker Sappi [JSE:SAP] on Wednesday said its first quarter earnings were slightly higher than the previous year and that it expected its full year performance to be steady.
Sappi, the world's largest maker of the fine paper used in glossy magazines, said basic earnings per share for the quarter to end-December were 5 US cents, from 3 US cents a year ago.
