London - Brewer SABMiller said on Monday that Alan Clark, currently head of its European business, would become chief operating officer in July, preparing the ground for him to succeed Graham Mackay as chief executive officer.
The world's No 2 brewer and maker of Miller Lite, Castle and Peroni beers said in a statement that Clark will take over from Mackay as CEO at the company's annual general meeting (AGM) in 2013.
It added Mackay, who has been chief executive since 1999, will become executive chairperson for one year, before taking on the role of non-executive chairperson at the 2013 AGM.
Meyer Kahn, who has been SABMiller chairperson since its primary listing on the London Stock Exchange in 1999, will retire after 46 years at the company, the group added.
The brewer, which also makes Grolsch, Snow, Pilsner Urquell and Aquila beers, said Sue Clark is to succeed Alan Clark as managing director of SABMiller Europe with effect from July 26.
