Johannesburg - The SA Nuclear Energy Corporation's CEO Rob Adam is to step down after six years, the company said on Thursday.

"He will be pursuing an opportunity in the private sector from February 2012," spokesperson Manne Dipico said in a statement.

Adam officially steps down at the end of January next year. The department still has to decide who his successor will be.

The Necsa board wished Adam well in the new phase of his career, Dipico said.
