Johannesburg - Merafe Resources [JSE:MRF] has said the Xstrata-Merafe chrome venture is in talks with Eskom, in order to assist the state-owned power utility with its immediate supply requirements.

The company announced that contractual commitments to the venture's customers for the second quarter of 2012 will not be affected, as these will be serviced from existing ferrochrome stock.

Merafe said a further announcement would be made once discussions have been concluded.
