Johannesburg - Mercedes-Benz SA paid tribute to former president Nelson Mandela on Friday, calling him an icon of peace and freedom.
"Mandela, in his tireless fight for equality for all South Africans, inspired the world to believe in the unifying values of our humanity, instead of focusing on the differences that divide us," it said in a statement.
"Through the nobility of his spirit he showed us the healing power of forgiveness, and the dignity inherent in standing firm in your ideals."
Mercedes-Benz said Mandela's legacy would forever remain an example of the ultimate in moral achievements.
Mandela died on Thursday night at his Houghton home surrounded by family. He was 95.
Flags around the country will be flown at half-mast from Friday until after his funeral.
