Freeworld Coatings [JSE:FWD] advised on Tuesday that its board of directors was considering the possibility of delisting the group's ordinary shares from the JSE.
"Shareholders are advised that an offer relating to the delisting, if pursued, may have a material effect on the price of Freeworld Shares. Accordingly, the shareholders of Freeworld are advised to exercise caution when dealing in Freeworld Shares until a further announcement is made," the group said.
In late August the Competition Tribunal granted the department of trade and industry's (DTI's) application to intervene in the upcoming merger hearing between Japanese-based firm Kansai Paint and coating group Freeworld Coatings, with conditions.
The DTI would now be allowed to participate in the Kansai/Freeworld merger hearing set to take place from November 14-25.
