Johannesburg - Power utility Eskom said on Monday it had secured an $805.6m loan from the Export-Import Bank of the United States to help fund its planned Kusile plant.
The 4 800 MW plant is one of two major new power plants under construction to fill a dire power shortage in South Africa.
Eskom also said it had already secured more than three quarters of the R300bn ($43.38bn) it plans to spend on new plants.
