Cape Town - Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba said on Thursday power utility Eskom is rebuilding its coal stockpiles, which fell slightly after miners in the coal sector went on a strike over wages last month.
"Eskom did have contingency plans in place and coal stockpiles at the power stations dropped from 38 days before the strike to 36 days by the end of the strike," Gigaba told journalists at a joint briefing with Eskom.
He said: "Eskom is busy rebuilding its stockpiles so that it will enter the rainy season with some confidence of fuel adequacy."
