Johannesburg - Construction on the Medupi power plant had not
restarted on Thursday as expected but normal operations for building the plant
should soon be restored, a spokesperson for Eskom said.
"The site is open. The site is safe. We have asked the
contractors to start mobilising the workers and restoring normal
operations," spokesperson Hilary Joffe told Reuters. She did not say
exactly when construction would resume.
Eskom a day earlier said it anticipated construction would
restart on Thursday after work was stopped last week because of labour
protests.
The plant is supposed to start producing power by late this
year and is crucial for easing tight supplies.
