Eskom: Load-shedding still highly likely

Johannesburg - The national power grid would remain tight on Thursday, Eskom said.

"Tonight we are expecting the same as last night... a tight balance, a very low reserve margin," spokesperson Andrew Etzinger said.

"The balance between supply and demand will be challenged."

He said deliberate power cuts are highly likely but not definite. This would depend on circumstances.

"Closer to the time we will know if we need to do load-shedding."

Constrained conditions are expected between 17:30 and 18:30, after which demand drops.

The power utility declared a power emergency on Wednesday night.
