Dames: Medupi may not be on schedule

Cape Town - Power utility Eskom is concerned that its Medupi power plant may not come on stream in 2012 as scheduled, its CEO Brian Dames said on Tuesday.

"In case of Medupi... we (are) concerned about the performance of particularly one contractor on our side, and from our own perspective I am concerned about the schedule and the fact that the first unit will come online next year," Dames told parliamentarians during a briefing on the company's annual results to end-March.

He said the Kusile power plant was still on schedule to come on line in late 2014.
