Johannesburg - Clyde Bergemann Africa has successfully concluded a contract with Eskom for fly ash handling at the parastatal's Kusile Power Station currently being built in Mpumalanga.
The company said the contract was worth around R350m.
Also on Monday, power and automation technology group ABB said it won an order worth $43m from Eskom to supply medium-voltage switchgear as well as protection and other equipment for Kusile.
Kusile comprises six supercritical combustion units with a total generating capacity of 4800 megawatts.
ABB will design, engineer, supply, install and commission the equipment.
Clyde Bergemann Africa said it would be responsible for the design, supply, construction and commissioning of the fly ash handling system.
"This includes the removal of fly ash from the bag houses to the storage silos and thereafter conditioning of fly ash onto overland conveyor belts," it said.
In October 2009, the company was awarded the contract for the same scope of work at Eskom's Medupi Power Station, and the work was progressing on schedule, the company added.
The holding company in Germany (Clyde Bergemann Power Group) was awarded the contract to supply sootblowers for Medupi and Kusile through Hitachi Power Europe, who are responsible for building the boilers.
"Early in November, the African company was also contracted to do the complete design, supply and commissioning of a new Dust Handling Plant for Units 4 – 6 at Eskom's Matla Power Station. The value of this contract is around $13.9m (R95m). "As with Medupi, the bid was fiercely contested by all our traditional competitors," Managing Director, Jaco van der Westhuizen said.
After Medupi, Kusile Power Station is the most advanced coal-fired plant project in Eskom.
