Johannesburg - Chemicals firm AECI is looking to spend up to R1bn on acquisitions of chemical companies in Brazil, its chief executive told Reuters in an interview.
Graham Edwards also said ongoing strikes in South Africa’s mining industry would “definitely” have a negative impact on the company’s second-half earnings.
AECI, a maker of industrial chemicals and explosives, is looking to acquire one or two companies in Brazil at R250m to R500m each, Edwards said.
“If you’re looking at even say R250m to R500m that would be a good (sized) business and if we could get one or two of those, that would be good for us,” he said.
