Johannesburg - Sugar producer Illovo Sugar (ILV) announced on Tuesday that Don MacLeod, who has been managing director of Illovo since 1992, will be retiring from this position on March 31 2009, at the age of 62.
He will, however, remain a member of the board of the company as a non-executive director, and will assume the role of deputy chairperson from April 1 2009.
In line with the company's succession plan, Graham Clark, who is presently the operations director, has been appointed to succeed MacLeod as MD on April 1 2009.
Clark, aged 52, who is a chartered accountant, has extensive operational, commercial and financial experience in the sugar industry, throughout Africa and internationally. He joined the sugar industry in 1980 and the Illovo group in 1997 when he was appointed to the board, the group said.
