Cape Town - The Webhelp Group is entering the South African market with two new facilities planned in Cape Town and Johannesburg, the company has announced.
The UK-based call centre operator plans to recruit 1 000 jobs over the next 12 months.
The South African venture will be known as Webhelp South Africa and will host a 7 500 square metre state-of-the art facility in Cape Town and a 4 500 square metre site in Johannesburg.
Craig Gibson, who will head Webhelp SA as CEO, said this venture is is a great development for the business process outsourcing services industry in the country.
“In recent years we have seen some big brands choose South Africa and the country is establishing itself as a BPO (business process outsourcing) destination of choice," he said.
Gibson added that the language and culture are closely matched, enabling SA to offer a far higher standard of customer service than some traditional outsourcing markets such as India and the Philippines.
Said Webhelp UK CEO David Turner: "We firmly believe that our UK, Romanian and South Africa capability gives us the best possible blend of off, near and onshore capabilities."
