Johannesburg - About 1 650 employees of fixed-line operator Telkom [JSE:TKG] have taken voluntary severance packages, the Business Day newspaper said on Wednesday, citing a local union.
Telkom said in February it would offer some of its workers early retirement as part of a push to rein in costs.
About 1 800 employees applied for the packages, with around 1 650 of them accepted, Business Day said, citing the union Solidarity.
No one was immediately available for comment at Telkom.
