Kagiso Media CEO to step down

Johannesburg - The board of Kagiso Media [JSE:KGM] announced on Friday that Chief Executive Officer Murphy Morobe will step down next year after a six-year tenure at the helm of one of the most successful listed black owned media companies.

Morobe will work with the board of directors to find a suitable successor and will continue to act in the capacity of CEO until no later than 30 June 2013 or the appointment of the successor.

Board chairperson Maud Motanyane said: “The board of directors thanks Mr Morobe for his significant contribution to the growth of Kagiso Media in recent years and wishes him every success in his future endeavours.

“We believe strong foundations have been laid which will enable KML to achieve even greater success going forward.

Said Morobe: “It is always difficult to leave a place you’ve come to regard as your second home. However, based on my reading of where the company is, I consider it to be an opportune time to step down to allow the company to find a new leader to take the business forward.”
