Main purpose of the job
Fin24.com, South Africa’s most widely read online financial
publication which registers between 430 000 and 480 000 unique browsers per
month, is seeking the services of an experienced journalist to join our team as
content editor at our Cape Town offices.
Job outputs
- Help
write original content relevant to Fin24.com’s audience
- Edit and
post articles on the website
- Edit and
post pictures that will enhance the site’s offering to users
- Help
drive social media strategy
- Help identify
and drive user-generated content.
- Assist
editor with new story ideas and responding creatively to breaking news.
- Assist in the management of the website, including
maintenance and site improvements
- Help
build Fin24.com’s multimedia strategy
- Must be
available to work some Sundays and on public holidays
Skills and competencies
- Must have
a keen interest in and a good knowledge of current affairs, business and
economic news
- Must be
versatile, flexible and adaptable to change
- Must be
able to perform under pressure
- Must be
able to engage with Fin24.com’s users
- Must have
detailed knowledge and understanding of social networking
- Must have
experience as a journalist
- Must have
sound English grammar
- Needs
planning and organisational skills
- Excellent
attention to detail is essential
- Must be
responsible and accountable
- Must be
able to work in a team as well as on his/her own
Qualifications and experience
- A
relevant tertiary qualification is a requirement; journalism or economics will
be an advantage.
- At least
three years’ experience in financial news reporting
- The
ability to communicate well is a necessity
- Must have
a sound understanding and knowledge of the digital medium and an understanding
of how to deliver online content in the SA environment
