Johannesburg - In a bid to bolster its position in South Africa and the greater African continent, Huawei has opened its first shop in Johannesburg.
The Chinese mobile phone maker and ICT solutions provider said the shop would proffer its Johannesburg clients a passage into its products and technical back-up.
Huawei Account general manager Bruce Wong said the launch of the store is just the start of bigger things to come, as the firm would set up shop in other parts of the country in the near future. He added that the firm has great prospects in South Africa.
The launch of this operation follows an increasing demand for Huawei’s products in the country.
This move shows Huawei is poised to bolster its market share across Africa’s emerging markets. It recently opened an office in Nigeria, Africa’s second-biggest economy.
In November last year, Huawei launched its first telecoms research and revelopment centre in South Africa.
At the time, it said the move was aimed at putting South Africa’s telecoms technology invention drive on a par with international movements.
