Johannesburg - Huawei Symantec, a provider of network security and storage appliance solutions, has opened up a subsidiary office in SA.
The group is a joint venture of Chinese telecom giant Huawei and IT ant-virus specialist Symantec.
The new office would enable Huawei Symantec to more effectively provide its customised network security and storage solutions to its growing base of customers in SA, Huawei Symantec said.
"The South African economy is enjoying tremendous growth, in particular, medium and large corporations in the telecoms, finance, manufacturing, government, and resources sectors. We are pleased to bring to South African enterprises Huawei Symantec's cutting edge, yet practical innovations that help meet their growing need for scalable and reliable data storage and network security solutions," said Edmont Rao, regional director for the sub-Saharan region for Huawei Symantec.
"SA is an important market for Huawei Symantec, and the opening of our subsidiary office emphasises our commitment to and our ongoing investment in the region. A rising star in the network security and storage space, Huawei Symantec will be working tirelessly with our partners and customers to realise rapid growth."
Huawei Symantec's network security and storage solutions are currently available through its distribution partners, Drive Control Corporation and Mustek. The Johannesburg office would serve as the management and service hub for Huawei Symantec's growing South African customer base, such as Walter Sisulu University, Telkom [JSE:TKG], MTN Group [JSE:MTN], Cell C, Vodacom Group [JSE:VOD], FNB, the Aveng [JSE:AEG] and other enterprises, the group said.
Huawei Symantec's products and solutions span more than 40 countries and regions globally.
