Johannesburg - Insurer Santam [JSE:SNT] has appointed Grant Gelink as its chairperson with effect from 30 May 2013‚ replacing Vusi Khanyile who will step down from the board on 29 May.
Gelink joined the Santam board as an Independent Non-Executive Director on 1 June 2012. He has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours)‚ National Diploma in PublicAdministration‚ Higher Diploma in Education and Bachelor of Accounting Science (Honours).
Gelink is an experienced chartered accountant and was a member of the Deloitte & Touche Executive Committee since July 1999. He served as chief executive of DeloitteSouthern Africa from 1 June 2006 until his retirement from this position on 31 May 2012.
He is also a member of Santam’s Audit and Risk Committees and serves as chairperson of the company’s Investment Committee.
