Johannesburg - The Johannesburg Stock Exchange halted equity trade late in the session on Tuesday, citing technical problems with its link to the London Stock Exchange.
“Issues relate to the international links provided by an external service provider between the exchange and the London Stock Exchange,” the bourse said.
The bourse suffered at least two technical glitches last year, one of which forced it to halt trade for six hours.
At that time, the JSE Ltd [JSE:JSE] said communications service provider MTN Group [JSE:MTN] was responsible for the data problems.
It was not immediately clear whether MTN was behind the latest problem.
