FNB to pump R400m in branch upgrade

Johannesburg - FNB said on Tuesday it will invest about R400m to upgrade existing and add new branches.

The bank also plans to bulk up its self service and digital banking transacting points, the bank said in a statement.

In the past financial year, FNB opened 21 new branches with additional functionality and services available to customers.

Over the last 12 months, FNB also added 500 ATMs to its network.

Referring to a number of innovations the bank rolled out in the last 12 months, including an advanced queue management system, Lee-Anne van Zyl, CEO of FNB Points of Presence, said technology is central to the reconfigurations being introduced.

"However, equally important is to ensure that we provide increased safety, security and privacy to customers.”

BAI-Infosys named FNB the Most Innovative Bank in the World in 2012.
