Johannesburg - Trustco Group Holdings [JSE:TTO], one of only two foreign companies listed on the JSE's Africa board, boosted its diluted headline earnings per share (Heps) by 55% to 19.48 Namibian cents for the year to March, from 12.60c previously.
The financial services group, which is also listed on the Namibian Stock Exchange, described its performance as "stellar".
For the period under review, profit after tax increased 38% to 190m Namibian dollars, while headline earnings grew 55% to NA$132m.
Total revenue was up 7% to NA$587.01m from NA$550.44m.
Despite southern Africa's slow emergence from the global recession, historical low interest rates and severe flooding in northern Namibia, Trustco said it was still able to report a stellar performance.
This financial period marked Trustco Mobile's first contribution to the group profits, with the company adding NA$23m to net profit after tax.
The group said earnings were further boosted by property sales from the Lafrenz property, Trustco's unit which houses prime industrial property on the outskirts of Windhoek. During the period under review, the group sold 54 000 square metres of the Lafrenz property for NA$68m.
Earnings were also enhanced by an award in favour of Trustco for damages arising out of a breach of contract by the South African Broadcasting Corporation, it said. The award was NA$54m.
