Johannesburg - The Institute of Municipal Finance Officers (IMFO) and the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants (Saica) will work together to improve financial management expertise in South Africa's municipalities, they said on Tuesday.
"To be able to collaborate with IMFO, not only by sharing training and professional development resources, but also when commenting on policy, will be a great help," said Saica senior executive of standards Ewald Müller.
The parties had signed a memorandum of understanding which would see them collaborate when lobbying on policy and share training.
"The agreement promises to strengthen the local government finance profession by encouraging the sharing of knowledge, experience and best practice," they said.
