Johannesburg - Civil engineering and construction group Basil Read Holdings on Thursday reported headline earnings of 333.12c, from 267.04c previously.
Earnings per share increased 19.5%, to 317.15c.
The group reported revenue of R4.66bn, from R3.47bn earlier, along with an operating profit of R408.7m, from R308.4m in 2008.
The group secured new contracts in the period under review
in the amount of R6.5bn, from R5.6bn earlier, and the order book is at R8.1bn, up 29%.
Commensurate with the growth of the group, and in line with its strategic intentions, Basil Read has successfully targeted large-scale contracts, with several under negotiation, it said.
Despite the ongoing economic uncertainty and the group's
growth targets, it declared a final dividend of 42c per
share, from 58c earlier.
"Basil Read had an exceptional year, despite 2009 being a
challenging year that will be remembered for some time in the
world's economic history books," it said.
