Johannesburg - Bobby Godsell, the former CEO of gold company AngloGold Ashanti, has been tipped to run beleaguered power utility Eskom.
Business Times on Sunday reported that Godsell will take over the reins from outgoing chairperson Mohammed Valli Moosa.
The paper reported that the announcement is expected to be made at Eskom's annual meeting on Thursday.
It said his appointment by Minister of Public Enterprises Alec Erwin, however, could be criticised by the new leadership of the ANC, which has taken Eskom to task for plunging the country into crisis and for its hefty tariff increases.
The Black Management Forum was in favour of the appointment with its president, Jimmy Manyi, telling Business Times that Godsell "is a competent manager and person and has a wealth of experience in management. His appointment also sends a message that when we talk about employment equity we are not being anti-white."
