Johannesburg - There was speculation on Friday that the Durban-based financial company Edwafin was under the water and that an application for sequestration was due to be brought before court within days.
Fin24.com stirred the hornet's nest in September 2007, with allegations that Edwafin's so-called debentures issues were nothing but a Ponzi scheme.
A Ponzi or pyramid scheme pays investors out with their own money, or with the upfront capital invested by subsequent investors.
Edwafin hit back and claimed that their Road Runner vehicle and a paint retailer in the Natal Midlands were going to rake in millions.
On its website, it claimed the existence of a financial statement showing an audited profit of R4m for the previous financial year.
Its representatives did not respond to Fin24.com's request for a copy of these financial statements.
Fin24.com is eager to hear of any fresh stories or rumours on Edwafin. It is especially interested to hear from investors and whether they are still receiving handsome interest payments from Edwafin.
