Talks were underway between CNA judicial manager Stephen Antisowich and ABSA, which is one of the agency's biggest creditors.
CNA is the stronger of the two divisions under the CNA holding group. Consolidated News Agency was placed under provisional liquidation last weekend.
Creditors said placing the entire group under liquidation would clear up the confusion over the different liabilities of the two subsidiaries.
