Johannesburg – Retailer Clicks Group (CLS) on Wednesday announced the appointment of Vikesh Ramsunder as Managing Director
of UPD, the group's pharmaceutical wholesaler, with effect from 1 October 2010.
Vikesh is currently the head of logistics for Clicks. He replaces Lynda van Niekerk, who has been the head of UPD since 2005. She will remain with the group in a consulting capacity for the next year.
Clicks Group Chief Executive Officer, David Kneale, said: "It is most pleasing to be able to make this key appointment from within the group. Vikesh has had extensive experience in retail and distribution centre operations in his 17 years with the group. He has been head of logistics in Clicks since 2008 during which time the performance of the distribution centres has improved dramatically. Prior to this he was the project manager of the Clicks Blueprint programme which has been instrumental in enhancing
operating efficiencies within Clicks stores.
"We thank Lynda for the role she has played in leading UPD during a period of unprecedented change following regulatory reform in the pharmaceutical wholesaling industry. She has positioned UPD as a market leader with a focused growth strategy. We are pleased to be retaining her services in a consulting capacity," added Kneale.
