Joining Citi in South Africa are the bank's offices in Algeria, Cameroon, Congo, Cote D'Ivoire, Egypt, Gabon, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Tunisia, Uganda and Zambia. Globally, Citi won the prestigious award in 66 countries.
Winners were chosen among entries evaluated by a world-class judging panel consisting of representatives from Tata Consultancy Services.
Global Finance's editors were responsible for the final selection of winners in the first round.
Commenting on the announcement, Zdenek Turek, the CE of the Africa division and country officer for SA says the bank is extremely proud of its continued success in Africa.
"This announcement is a reflection of the credibility we have gained with our clients across the continent, within our transactional business, and we look forward to continuing to develop these relationships," says Turek.
Citi's recognition by Global Finance is hot on the heels of other recent awards from Euromoney and Africa Investor. The Euromoney Awards for Excellence judged Citi to be the best emerging market mergers and acquisitions house (global award), best ABS house (global award), best equity house in Africa, best investment bank in Africa and best investment bank in South Africa.
The Africa Investor Index Awards rated Citi the best investment in Africa.
This is the eighth year Global Finance has named the world's best internet bank. The regional and global winners will be announced at a ceremony in New York in November.
