Melbourne - Australian oil and gas company Woodside Petroleum said Tuesday that company production is expected to be down 150 000 barrels of oil equivalent per month from April 1 after BHP Billiton (BHP) indicated there may be further delays to the Neptune oil and gas project in the Gulf of Mexico.
BHP, in a separate statement said the March schedule for first production "will be updated" after structural anomalies in the hull were found.
Production was originally scheduled for last year from Neptune, which is expected to produce 50 000 barrels of oil and 50 million cubic feet of gas a day. BHP didn't indicate when production is expected.
Woodside said BHP is undertaking structural inspection and analysis before advising of any required action.
The project is part of BHP's plan to expand petroleum production in the Gulf.
BHP owns 35% of Neptune, with Marathon Oil holding 30%, Woodside 20% and Maxus Exploration holding 15%.
