Johannesburg - Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa was told about the problem of farm worker evictions during his walkabout in Paarl on Sunday, ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa said.
"There's a lot of changes happening in the farming sector in the Western Cape. It appears it's affecting farm workers the most," he said.
Ramaphosa met with farm owners during his walk-about.
"He's very worried, and will raise it with the relevant ministers to see how best to address the issue of farm workers in the Boland area."
Mechanisation was replacing manual labour, he said.
He visited areas including Langabuya and Thembani and residents told him about problems of education and unemployment.
"[They also talked about] shoddy workmanship in some areas where new houses were already falling apart," said Kodwa.
