Pretoria - Statistics South Africa is currently conducting the Annual Agricultural Survey, 2014.
The survey collects information from sampled enterprises engaged in the agricultural sector.
It is conducted via post, fax, e-mail and through visits to the farming units in the commercial agricultural business sector by Stats SA fieldworkers.
The Annual Agricultural Survey covers activities of selected commercial farming enterprises that are registered for tax. The reference period of the data to be collected is the financial year from July 1 2013 to June 30 2014. The deadline for submission is July 31 2015.
The results of the survey are used by Government and other sectors of society to monitor trends in the agricultural industry as well as to measure the contribution of farming to the gross domestic product (GDP).
The report based on the survey will be released later in 2015.
Data supplied by farming enterprises is kept confidential by Stats SA in terms of the Statistics Act. Results are presented in aggregated form only. In terms of the act the provision of the information sought is compulsory.
All sampled units are urged to participate by completing the 2014 questionnaire before the end of July 2015.
