Johannesburg - Sake24 journalist Antoinette Slabbert has been elected chairwoman of the National Press Club in Pretoria, the organisation said on Thursday.

"Slabbert has been the club's deputy chairperson, and her election follows the resignation of Yusuf Abramjee," it said in a statement.

Abramjee was re-elected as chairman this year but made it clear he would be in the position for only a few months.

Slabbert's deputy is Pretoria News executive editor Jos Charle.
