Johannesburg - Junk Mail Publishing, the publisher of Auto Mart car magazine, has been criticised for publishing adverts using phrases like "blacklisted", the National Credit Regulator said on Wednesday.
"Junk Mail published adverts with statements such as 'blacklisted clients welcome, blacklisted... we can help'," NCR CEO Nomsa Motshegare said in a statement.
She said in terms of the National Credit Act (NCA) , these statements or phrases should not be contained in the advertisements.
Junk Mail was issued with a compliance notice as the advertisements contravened the NCA.
The notice required Junk Mail to stop accepting such advertisements for publication, review all advertisements before publishing, and submit its next version of the magazine with corrected advertisements to the NCR.
Motshegare said Junk Mail had agreed to comply.
Other phrases that were not accepted were "no credit checks required" and "free credit".
