Absa Group [JSE:ASA] has announced the early retirement of its chief corporate affairs and sustainability officer
Venete Klein.
Klein, who leaves at the end of December 2010, is a member of the group's executive committee. She has been with Absa for seven years in various roles, including serving as one of the executives in retail banking before taking over the position of overseeing the Group's corporate affairs and sustainability.
However, Klein will continue to serve as a Trustee of the Absa Foundation and chairperson of AllPay Consolidated Investment Holdings.
"Venete has also been a strong and visible ambassador for Absa through her membership (and in some cases, leadership) of various business organisations such as Business Unity South Africa, the International Women's Forum and the Afrikaanse Handelsinstituut.
"She has also served on committees and boards responsible for setting up the regulatory framework in the South African banking sector. We wish her well for the future," group chief executive
