Fin24.com, South Africa’s most widely read online financial publication and registering between 430 000 and 480 000 unique browsers per month is seeking the services of an experienced journalist to join as a deputy editor based at our Johannesburg offices.
General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Assisting with editing original content produced by Fin24.com’s team of financial and personal finance writers, as well as
• Managing the content aggregation produced by the content editing team.
• At news conferences the Deputy Editor is integral in producing a daily newslist prioritising news flow.
• Working with journalists by assisting with new story ideas and responding creatively to breaking news.
• Assisting in the management of the website including maintenance and site improvements.
• As Fin24.com has an active multimedia strategy, the incumbent will assist in developing creative and interesting ideas for podcast and video articles.
Requirements:• A tertiary qualification either in journalism, economics or one of the liberal arts would be an advantage.
• At least five years’ experience in financial news reportage is a requirement .
• Experience in online news, while not a necessity, will be highly advantageous.
• An ability to communicate well is a necessity.
• Applicants must have proven credentials in working well under pressure as well as write and edit quickly and accurately.
