Johannesburg - A new offer has been tabled in wage negotiations in the motor industry, the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) said on Tuesday.
"The offer is worth being considered. We recommend it," said Numsa secretary general Irvin Jim.
Jim said the offer by the Retailers' Motor Industry and the Fuel Retailers' Association would be debated on Wednesday.
"We did our best in negotiations and hope the members will accept... We do not want to prolong the strike," he said.
Workers in the motor industry embarked on a strike over pay two weeks ago.
Jim said the offer included a wage increase and touched on labour broking, but he would not provide more details until members had been informed.
He said the strike would continue if members rejected the offer.
"We do not dictate to members. They will decide... We only recommend the offer."
Last week, Numsa workers rejected a 10% wage increase offer, up from an original offer of 6.6%. Numsa had demanded a 20% increase.
