Johannesburg - On Digital Media on Friday announced that it had to date, sold 120 000 decoders for its satellite pay TV offering, TopTV.

TopTV launched in South Africa on May 1, with 50 000 decoders selling out on the first day.

ODM launched with seven different pricing options, starting at R99, up to R249 per month, well below DStv's premium package of R529 per
month.

TopTV's basic package includes 24 TV channels, up to 55 channels with genres including variety, kids & music, entertainment & knowledge and ultimate movies.

The group said on Friday that it was also in the process of adding new channels, "though this is still in discussions," it said.

"The overwhelming response from the public resulted in a few operational problems," said Eloise Kelly, chief marketing officer and official spokesperson for TopTV.

TopTV said it would launch its PVR functionality in 2011.
