Shock: Bok clothing counterfeit

Johannesburg - At least eight out of every 10 items of Springbok supporters' clothing sold in South Africa is counterfeit. And so is all the Springbok apparel sold at traffic lights.

Dave Linder, managing director of Canterbury International SA (Cisa), the clothing sponsors of the national rugby team, revealed this on Monday.

Cisa own all the rights to the manufacturing and selling of Springbok supporters' apparel.

A percentage of Cisa's profits go towards rugby development. Therefore people who buy these counterfeit products not only actively support crime but prevent Cisa from spending more money on sports development, says Linder.

Many of the official items are made in South Africa. Cisa have already agreed with the trade unions Cosatu and Sactwu that all these products should be manufactured in the country within two years.
