Johannesburg - Rand Water on Tuesday assured all its customers that it will continue to "deliver high-quality bulk water daily".
It also said it was unaware of any threat of industrial action by members of the South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) employed by Rand Water.
This comes in response to a statement issued by the Samwu on Monday, which said over 2 000 employees could down tools if they do not get an 18%, or R700 (whichever is the greater), wage increase this year.
"Current salary negotiations between Rand Water and its affiliated unions are proceeding satisfactorily, and it is likely that an amicable resolution will be concluded shortly.
"No dispute has been registered by any of the affiliated unions," the utility said in its statement.
Rand Water, which is classed as an essential service provider, said that it successfully concluded a minimum service agreement with its affiliated unions in 2004.
The agreement stipulates that in the event of industrial action, activities have to be carried out to ensure the uninterrupted supply and distribution of potable water.
