Johannesburg - Employers were urged to allow their employees time to cast their votes in the general elections, the department of labour said on Monday.
"I am appealing to all the employers of this country to allow their employees time to exercise their democratic right and go to the polls to cast their votes," said Minister Membathisi Mdladlana.
"I am pleased by reports that some farmers have already given their workers leave for the day to be able to go and vote.
"That is a commendable act which I am hoping will be emulated by all employers in all sectors," he said.
The country goes to the polls on Wednesday.
