Cape Town - The City of Cape Town says it will tighten the screws on counterfeit goods ahead of the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
Conservative estimates were that at least 25% of the retail sales of licensed sports products were lost to counterfeit goods, mayoral committee member for economic development Ian Neilson said on Wednesday.
He said the city was planning to tighten a draft informal trading by-law to combat counterfeit sales.
